TCL expands smart home ambitions with 4-in-1 door security solution

CES 2025: D1 Ultra launched alongside new smart lock and security cameras

TCL has ramped up its smart home efforts by showing off a trio of new connected devices over in Las Vegas at CES 2025.

The Chinese brand is better known in the Western World for its TVs and AV equipment (and the odd kitchen appliance) so it’s exciting to see it branching out to the smart home too, just as it has done in its homeland.

Topping the bill at CES 2025 is the new TCL Smart Lock D1 Ultra, described as “the world’s first 4-in-1 smart lock.”

That 4-in-1 claim refers to the different functionality of the Smart Lock D1 Ultra; its moniker doesn’t really do it justice.

That’s because it’s not only a smart lock – it’s also a security camera, video doorbell and a digital display all in one.

The idea is that you slap it on your front door and it can carry out the tasks of multiple devices at the same time.

On the outward facing part you’ll find a touch panel with numbers for unlocking with a code, along with a fingerprint scanner, front facing 2K camera and a doorbell button.

On the inside is the unlocking bolt, along with a 3.5-inch display to show you what’s going on, on the other side.

As well as fingerprint and code entry, you can also unlock the D1 Ultra using voice commands (Alexa or Google Assistant), a physical key or a smartphone app.

It has AI – of course it does – on board for the likes of human detection but you will have to cough up extra for cloud storage using Tuya IoT Cloud.

The TCL Smart Lock D1 Ultra will go on sale in the next couple of months, the price is still to be revealed.

Also on show over in Vegas is the TCL Smart Lock D1 Pro, a device that actually launched at the end of last year.

Boasting AI-powered palm vein recognition tech, the D1 Pro uses near-infrared light to illuminate the palm, causing hemoglobin in the blood to absorb the light, creating a detailed, unique palm vein information.

TCL tells us that vein patterns are difficult to replicate and are unique to each individual, even between identical twins.

Like the Ultra, the D1 Pro has multiple unlocking methods and is also compatible with both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

As mentioned, the D1 Pro was actually launched late last year – it costs $199 in the US.

TCL also used CES 2025 to demo the Security Cam B1 – a EufyCam S3 Pro lookalike, complete with a solar panel on top.

Like the D1 Pro, this 2K security cam actually went on sale at the end of 2024 and you can buy it for $99.99.
