It’s not often that we get to write about Nintendo here on The Ambient but we couldn’t ignore this… the Japanese gaming giant had launched a smart alarm clock.
The Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo may not have the smart home and music controls of the likes of the Echo Spot, nor the sleep sensing tech of the Nest Hub, but it is more than an alarm clock with the Mario music packed in.
I mean, it is an alarm clock with the Mario music packed in, but it’s also got some clever motion tech built in too, which tracks how you respond to an alarm and cranks up the SFX if you don’t get your lazy butt out of bed.
For example, if you opt for the Mario theme, you’ll hear things like coin noises as you roll about when the alarm is firing, or cheers from the Italian plumber as you start to rise.
But it’s not just Mario, there are 35 different alarms across five Nintendo games and,
by linking your Nintendo Account, you can download additional themes such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Themes also change the fonts and graphics on the screen.
The Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo costs $99 / £89.99. Be warned that the sensing is only advised for single bed occupants
