Loch Capsule Dishwasher review

Capable of running without the need for plumbing-in (although that is an option) and only taking up the kitchen counter footprint of an air-fryer, the Loch Capsule Dishwasher is a great, albeit quite pricey, option for people craving the luxury of a dishwasher without having the space of a full-sized option.

  • Fits on kitchen counter

  • Small, but can handle full-sized plates

  • No need to plumb-in

  • Great cleaning performance

Loch Capsule Dishwasher: Introduction

Think you’ve got no room for a dishwasher? Think again. The Loch Capsule Dishwasher is a space-saving marvel that should fit snugly onto your kitchen counter.

You’re not going to get a full family Sunday dinner’s worth of plates, bowls, cooking utensils, glasses and cutlery in it but, for people living alone, or as an extra cleaning option for a utility room then the Loch Capsule might be just what you’re after.

Design and components

Measuring just 51.5 x 26.2 x 46.5cm, the Loch Capsule isn’t like a regular full-sized dishwasher that needs a unit sized space under a kitchen counter; in fact it’s designed to sit right on top, alongside your toaster and your air-fryer.

Inside, you’ll find a well-designed interior with a single wire rack featuring two sets of fold-down tines.

While it’s technically listed as having space for two place settings, it could possibly handle a family of four’s basic dinnerware needs.

Thanks to its height, it can accommodate full-size plates, tall wine glasses, and even some frying pans.

Plus, with its carry handle, it’s not your average countertop model – it’s a dishwasher that can go wherever you need it, whether that’s on your kitchen counter or out in the wilderness; so could be perfect for a camper van or family tent setup.

The Loch Capsule Dishwasher comes with two 3-litre tanks – one for clean water and one for dirty water – allowing you to operate it even where there’s no direct water source for your to plumb it in.

It can also be plumbed in like a regular dishwasher too, if you don’t want to bother with the tanks.

Performance

The Loch Capsule Dishwasher has a space in the door for washing powder and you can also add rinse aid.

While it may lack some of the bells and whistles of larger dishwashers, like adjustable rinse aid dispensers or integrated water softeners, it more than makes up for it with its compact size and portability.

With a range of wash modes to choose from, including an Eco cycle for thorough cleaning and shorter cycles for quicker turnaround times, it’s a reliable choice for everyday use.

The Eco mode, which is the one I used the most in testing, is pretty slow at just under three hours for a cycle, but the 67°C temperature keeps the cost down and it also blasts with UV light to kill bacteria too.

There are plenty of other wash modes too, of varying lengths and temperatures: 15 minutes at 70°C, 30 minutes at 50°C, 45 minutes at 70°C, 90 minutes at 72°C or 152 minutes at 75°C.

Performance-wise, the Loch Capsule Dishwasher delivers impressive results across its various wash modes. Whether you’re washing coffee-stained mugs or heavily soiled dinner plateddishes, the Loch Capsule Dishwasher gets the job done; it delivers impressive results across its various wash modes.

Plus, its versatility extends beyond dishwashing duties – it comes with an extendable rack for washing fruits and vegetables, along with dedicated UV light wash modes for produce and items that shouldn’t be washed with water.

Final thoughts

If you’re struggling for space in your kitchen but the daily washing up is becoming a chore that you could do without, then the Loch Capsule Dishwasher may well be perfect for you.

It’s pretty pricey though, you could get a pretty good full sized, fully featured dishwasher for around the same price but, if that’s not feasible for you, the Loch is a more than capable, if somewhat limited by size, performer.
