How to set up Quiet Time on Nest video doorbells

Mute your Nest video doorbell’s indoor chime and visitor announcements

Estimated reading time: 5 minutes

Your Nest video doorbell has a number of features packed in, whether you have the old Nest Hello – now called Nest Doorbell (Wired) – or you have the Nest Doorbell (Battery). You can change up the ringtone all year around if you have the Nest Doorbell (Battery), and if you have Nest Hello or the Nest Doorbell (Wired), there are seasonal ringtones for some holiday periods like Halloween and Christmas.

That’s not all though. Some of the other features offered are a little more basic than switching to spooky sounds, but they are also handy all year round. Quiet Time, for example, will stop your Nest Doorbell’s chime inside, and ensure no connected smart speakers play the doorbell sound either. Wondering how to set Quiet Time up and turn it on? We have you covered.

Turning on Quiet Time on your Nest video doorbell will mean you’ll get some peace and quiet inside your home. If you have set up Visitor Announcements on any connected smart speakers or displays, it will silence those, and it will stop the chime going off inside too. You might be watching a film and you don’t want any interruptions, or maybe it’s Halloween or Christmas and you don’t want to be disturbed by trick or treaters or carol singers. Alternatively, you might just have a sleeping baby and you don’t want the delivery driver to disturb its nap.

Whatever your reason, Quiet Time is quick and easy to set up and it will silence your Nest video doorbell for periods between 30 minutes and 3 hours. If you need quiet for longer than 3 hours, then you will need to repeat the steps below again. If you want less than 30 minutes, well, that’s tough. When in Quiet Time, you will still receive an app notification if a visitor pushes the doorbell – assuming you have those notifications turned on – but you won’t hear your doorbell inside.

That’s it! Once you have pressed on ‘Set’, your Nest video doorbells indoor chime and visitor announcements on any connected speakers will be muted for the duration you have chosen.
